CNN is broadcasting that an innocent woman, sunbathing on her boat in Florida, has been attacked and killed by a stingray that simply flew out of the water and landed on her. I haven’t been able to locate any website news stories as of yet; but I will keep you posted.
This strikes me personally on a couple of levels. First, it was the murder of Steve Irwin by one of these stingray jihadists that got me writing about the Animal Kingdom Jihad (AKJ) in the first place.
Second, and far closer to home, one of these barbarous animals viciously attacked my beloved daughter, Hannah. That’s right, you heard me correctly. We were visiting the Texas Aquarium in Corpus Christi when tragedy nearly struck. We were viewing the stingray exhibit, where these supposed cute little oceanic denizens of peace were being displayed as man’s little friends; ones that you could pet and get love vibes from evidently. Anyway, MM and I were standing on one side of the little pool, and Hannah was standing across from us, when without any warning or provocation, this jihadist leaps up at Hannah with murderous intent. Luckily for our girl, it didn’t have the strength to get to her—it simply hit the short retaining wall and fell back in to the pool. We learned our lesson about stingrays that day. Yeah, they may not all be jihadists bent on taking out innocent people; but you had best use some common sense and wariness in dealing with them nonetheless.
