Animal Control Officer Shooting His Cow Also Shoots, Kills Man

WILLIS, Va. —  Virginia State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man killed while another man was shooting one of his cows.

It was not immediately clear why Belcher was on the scene, what his relationship was with Nester and why Nester was shooting at the cow.

This teaches us a valuable lesson: guns don’t kill people, people shooting at cows with guns kill people.  I can think of three possible scenarios—1.  The cow deserved to get shot (but it doesn’t say whether the cow was killed) and the poor guy was just standing in the wrong place at the wrong time; or, 2. There was much alcohol involved, and who knows what these bozos were thinking; or, 3.  It was actually the cow who had the gun, but there was a struggle, and the gun accidently discharged and struck the innocent bystander.

I’m going with scenario #3.  They can’t all be ninja cows or jump off cliffs; some of them have to carry heavy weaponry. 

It will be interesting to see if there’s any follow up once they get the story untangled; they can’t just leave us hanging like this.
